March 2007 - Present.  Clegg & Associates facilitated a group of experts charged with designing and implementing pilot projects to extend health care for children and designed and conducted an ongoing evaluation of the King County initiative to provide health coverage for every child.  Clegg & Associates is proud to have created the first logo adopted by the CHI. In 2008, the logo morphed into a more simple acronym with superimposed crimson-striped rainbow.

In 2009, Clegg & Associates will continue to assist the CHI with facilitation of the Access and Outreach Committee and the Health Innovation Implementation Committee meetings, and with ongoing evaluation of the programs.

The Children’s Health Initiative (CHI) was formed in Spring of 2006, a two-part strategy to link children to existing health coverage and a regular source of care, and to assure that all children have coverage.  The CHI is a robust public/private partnership, and key funders, such as Group Health Cooperative, have stepped forward to support the initiative.

The CHI launched targeted, community-based outreach and activities to link children to primary care, dental care, and preventive services.  The initiative also convened a group to develop innovative approaches to be implemented with pilot projects to ensure that children are connected to health coverage and that such coverage results in improved health.  These pilot projects included an online enrollment system, an oral health outreach project promoting oral health screening in primary care settings, a behavioral health project exploring the effectiveness of providing access to services, and financial sponsorship assuring affordability.

Clegg & Associates has supported the CHI’s efforts by both facilitating the innovations committee and supporting evaluation and reporting on the initiative’s success and the health of children in King County.  Clegg & Associates worked closely with CHI staff to develop an effective and sustainable evaluation design for the CHI initiative.  This work included the development of an evaluation plan, creation of data collection protocols, development of data sharing agreements among the health clinics providing CHI services and the CHI database, and assistance in the preparation of the first and second quarter evaluation reports.
