April 2008 - January 2009. Washington State Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program, Stakeholder Input Project—New WIC Food Rules.
Clegg & Associates is holding focus groups with WIC clients and conducting key informant interviews with local health department staff, state WIC program staff, and other stakeholders regarding the new WIC food rules that will be implemented in 2009. We will analyze, report, and discuss this feedback with state WIC staff and local WIC agencies in order to help guide the state WIC program as it makes decisions about the WIC food package and to help the program better understand the impact of the new rules on different cultural communities in areas throughout the state.
Clegg & Associates has worked closely with state WIC program staff to develop the focus group and interview questions. To date, we have conducted 20 focus groups with more than 150 clients throughout the state, including WIC clients whose first language is English, Russian, Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, and Chinese, as well as Native American and African American clients.
Responses from the interviews and focus groups will be captured in detailed reports. Our analysis will highlight areas of agreement and divergence between groups and provide specific information about issues of interest.
This project came to a successful conclusion in January 2009 and culminated in a report of lessons learned that will help guide future planning. This report can be viewed in our Client Report section.
